Screwed by Humana's Right Source Pharmacy

Humana Insurance is very deceptive when it comes to prescription medications. As a member of Humana, I can fill my prescriptions with Humana's Right Source Pharmacy. I used to do this out of convenience but the prices seem to get higher and higher and I found other places I could get my medicines cheaper. Still, when I get a new medication I try the Right Source Pharmacy website where they have a calculator to tell you how much the prescription would cost. I did this with my most recent prescription for a brand name medication and Humana's Right Source Pharmacy calculator told me that the medication was covered with no copay. This is rare to happen but I have seen it happen before.

I went ahead and ordered the medicine because there is no better price than zero. A little while later I got the prescription, only it was not the name brand, it was the generic. I do not mind using generic medicines because they work fine and most the time they are cheaper. I would have thought, “If the name brand was covered at zero then the generic would be as well.” Imagine my surprise when I got a bill for it for $69.78. I was not happy and I called Humana to try to sort it out. They would not let me return it because they said it is in the “fine print” that if they do not have the name brand they can fill the generic brand. I was also told that it was out of their control. I was told to file a customer complaint with Humana Grievance and Appeals.

So far I have heard nothing back from them. I am filing consumer complaints about them as well as making sure that other people know that the calculator on Right Source is a scam. In one of my conversations a Humana employee told me that the calculator only gives approximations and that the cost could be $30 higher or lower than that. I think that is one heck of an approximation. A $30 variation per medicine is quite a bit and for those of us on many medicines it can break the bank. There are a alternative places to fill prescriptions online and through the mail that are a lot cheaper. Cheapmeds.com is a good alternative, I use them for almost everything now and it saves me a ton of money and there is none of this, “Generics cost more than Brand name garbage.”

I hate Humana's right source quoting system. I take care of my mother who has Humana and I am the one who has to deal with them one-on-one. They can get me so frustrated. Their customer service is not very good, in fact it sucks. They are often rude and misquote me all the time. I tried the Right Source Pharmacy and had the same issues as you. They would quote me low and charge me high. I do not know if that is considered bait and switch or not. Seems like the price is bait and switch though.

I stopped using the online calculator because it was always quoting me wrong. Instead I called them and got their over the phone quote. I just want to let you know that the over the phone quote is exactly like the online quote. They will tell you one price and then bill you another one later. I am willing to bet that they are making millions by quoting lower then competitors, and then charging higher. Don't use them, don't let yourself get screwed by Humana's Right Source Pharmacy. At this point I only use local pharmacies. Saves me a lot of time and trouble and they never lie about the price.

Angry the thread never runs out, does it?

Hello all; I see a thread here. Humana and Right Source are operating a s___. I originaly started using R.S. because there was no co-pay. I stated that they were not to send any medicine that there was a co-pay. One of the med's that I was taking was sudenly put on a different level and I had to pay for it. After several phone calls, objecting to the price I was told that they could send it to me for $10. I said OK since it was 1/4 of their price.. You guessed it they sent me a bill for $43. I have since filed an objection, and refused to pay. Offered the $10. they said no, pay it all. It looks like they are s___ artist to me... More as it comes in. They also record all phone calls.

    betty

I checked on the calculator for adderall and was surprised to see that the regular costs less than the generic but they do not cover the regular adderall. That was my first clue that the calculator was messed up.

Right Source claims they never received my docs fax so my meds were never sent. Also, they said they called another doc but could't say who or about what med. I asked why the doc wasn't called back after no response in 8 days . I also had asked for a tier exception for a generic drug that was covered at a Tier 3. My doctor filled out the form but they couldn't understand his handwriting. I asked why they simply didn't call him and they said that they weren't allowed. You can NEVER speak to anyone that knows anything and they never seem to run out of numbers to give you that are simply a reroute to customer service. I have wasted hours. If they make a mistake, you just have to suck it up bec there is no recourse,no way to escalate the matter. I am supposed to get a grievance form in the mail;we'll see if I get it or if anyone responds but I have had NOTHING but aggravation since joining Humana . I will not use their mail order pharmacy.

If they record all phone calls why can't they find the one where they told you only $10? I guess they only check the ones they want....

well I should have known that adderall would not be on the formulary this year. I did appeal and they agreed to pay for one more year. the formulary was changed after the date to change insurance carriers changed. Imagine that? also the smart summary I received in dec 2011 said there would not be any changes to the cost of my medications for 2012. I would say not paying for one is a change.........

Health insurances all over have become a joke. It worries me since of course its something we "need" and "might have to use" but sometimes its like whats the point. Everyone is out to screw you if you give them the chance.

You are so right about Humman and Right Source. I had to get off of my husband's Insurace because the last raise in the coverage price ment I'd have to pay $700 for the both of us. since I have less medical problems I talked with a insurance specialist and chose Humman as I could get my meds for free. that lasted a year. Last year I ended up paying $132 for two med's that I was told were free. They cleaned out my cheking account at the time and left $8. When I called I got shiffed from one person to another long story short they said it was my fault and no recourse for me. fill out greivance from they would send me. Took forever for the form to get here. One week after I filled it out got letter saying was my fault...waste of time. Now I have to refill prescriptions and have not done so as I can't be sure of what I "may have to pay" even tho they should not cost me anything.

Medicare patient and humane drug plan memeber - Diabetic testing supply they gave me prices 3 times, 1st time they told me RightSource meter, test strips, lancet all are free for memeber. Two time I talked to them they quoted me member pay only 20%. I agree to pay 20%. I received supply and they charged me 100%, I called them and talk to them they were keep transfering from one to other dept for 1.5 hrs and keep giving all different reason. I asked them to send back, I don't want it, they told me for one item price $135 but they charged me $128, since they provided $7 discount they cann't take it back. They have very bad customer service in resolving issues.
