I paid big bucks for my family to go on a cruise and we used Princess Cruise Lines. What a joke it was! I have been on 3 other cruises in my lifetime and this one was by far the worst! We tried to make the most of it, but all I kept seeing was all the money I spent being wasted. The worse thing was it was my parentís 1st cruise and they said they would not be taking another. The worse part was the food, it was just awful!
I went on a cruise through Princess cruise too Ė a family vacation but I still had to work a little.
I took my laptop with me, they told me that there was a room with WiFi and I could buy so many minutes and they would be charged to my bill. I did not plan on working on the internet for more than an hour a day (banking stuff). I went to the room and tried to log in, it took my code (to charge my bill) but would not allow me to do anything else. I could not get the internet off so I was paying for every minute but not being able to use it. I had to leave the laptop in the room and go to the desk for help. They would not credit me back for the loss of internet time. They fixed the problem though so I was able to use it again. What a rip-off I told them Ė internet usage is not cheap when you are on a ship.
My daughter was getting bit up by something at night in her bed. We noticed this after the first night on the ship. I finally took her down the 2nd night and showed them and said there was something in the bed. They said there could not be, perhaps she was getting bit when she was on the deck? I asked to have a different room because there was something wrong with the bed. We ended up letting our daughter sleep with us that night and she didnít get bit again. The next day they got us a new room. It was smaller but there was nothing in the beds that were biting.
I wonít be taking a cruise ever again on a Princess Cruise ship.
I know exactly how you feel, we experienced the same feeling and service when we went on a Princess Cruise ship last May. I complained several times to different people there (workers) about several issues. They pretty much just ignored me.
I was with my daughter (she just turned 16) and other moms and daughters Ė thought it would be fun to go on a cruise for their 16th birthdays. It was my first cruise on a Princess ship (I usually go with Carnival).
We had problems with the food too. We went to a lot of buffets and there never seemed to be enough food. We always went towards the middle of the dinner hour Ė figuring the crowds would have died down. I canít tell you the number of times they ran out of certain items. Not only did they run out, but other food was just not cooked properly- it was undercooked. Who wants to eat undercooked prime rib? I mean it was bloody!
On several occasions we had to call down to the main desk and ask for clean towels, seriously the rooms were not cleaned very often and when you have to call for towels, that is just crazy! We were not towel happy either, you know asking for new ones several times a day, this was more like once a day or every other day. I donít know if the ship was short staff or what but every request seemed like it took hours to get completed. You know you should not even have to ask for your room to be cleaned or towels and then when you had to wait another 2 hours ~ crazy!
I sent in a complaint letter when we got back home. We paid too much money to have a crappy trip! I have yet to hear anything back. I will not be booking with Princess Cruise Lines ever again!
I am so sorry that your parents had such a bad time on their first cruise! I have been on some wonderful cruises so I hope they will not let this ruin it for them. Princes Cruise line sucks, they just get worse and worse.
