Tractor supply is a rip-off store. I bought some work boots there for my husband. They were supposed to be weather resistant, I even bought the leather protector that they suggested to put on the boots. The protector changed the color of the leather (darkened) but that was alright. When he wore them to work and it started to rain the boots got wet. They literally shrunk, he had a heck of a time getting them off his feet. The leather protector ran and the boots just looked awful. I tried to take them back but they would not accept them, they said they had been worn. He doesnít wear them anymore, and I wonít buy anything like that again through them. They really need to stand behind their product.
I have had some problems on and off with Tractor Supply too. Iíve never bought any boots there though.
I bought a saw there and one of those hard hats with the visor and ear muff protectors on it. I bought this as a gift for my hubby for Christmas. The saw works awesome, he has no problems with it. The hard hat however has had a lot of problems. It was not cheap either. It cost me $50 plus tax. The padding on the ear muff part kept falling out and then it didnít work to protect his ears from the noise.
I took it back in to the store and they replaced it without a problem. They were very friendly the first time I took it back. The new one worked for a while and then the visor broke off. I again took it back to the store. It wasnít cheap and he was only wearing it in the woods to cut wood (you know what it is made for). This time they gave me a hard time. I was like listen, this is poorly made and I paid $50 for it. You have to warranty it. It was after the 30 day period to return items. They ended up taking it back and giving me a new one. They were sending it back in to the manufacture for a credit anyway.
Each time I took it back I made them give me a return receipt so we could track how long we had the new ones. The 3rd one had problems too, it wasnít even 2 weeks into wearing it and the ear muff padding came out again. My husband was getting pretty upset now and it takes a lot to rattle him. He took it back in this time. He didnít want a replacement, he wanted the money back and he would go somewhere else to get a different brand. Tractor Supply only had the 1 brand in their store. Of course they gave him a hard time but he didnít back down. He is in the store shopping all the time. He buys our pet food there, everything for the chainsaws, some clothes, and other things. He nicely told him that they would no longer get our business or our families business either.
His uncle is a farmer and has a huge farm account at the store. They did finally give him the money back that I paid for the hard hat and he ended up going to Gander Mountain and got a different brand and has had no problems.
We still shop there often and the staff is very nice again. Hey the store just needs to stand behind their products they sell.
I have had issues with Tractor Supply and their crap products they sell too. I buy the Carhartt brand usually but I thought I would give their brand a try. It was a lot cheaper and I thought what the heck. I got some insulated jeans to wear out cutting wood in the winter. Let me tell you they were Junk! My legs were frozen within 30 minutes. I asked my wife to take them back for me. You know you can return items if you arenít 100% satisfied with them (or so they say when you purchase their items).
She took them back a couple of days later. She had the receipt and they asked why she was returning them, she told them the truth. They just did not work well, I was cold within 30 minutes and I wasnít happy. They gave her the money back with no other questions asked.
Iíve never had any issues with them not accepting any return from me. They are always very friendly and they work with you. I had to take back a pair of work boots once , they were just too small and not comfortable (no questions asked again). A pair of my work gloves ripped out after I wore them twice. I took them back too and got my money back.
So my problem with Tractor Supply is the quality of the items they sell there. Really it is just their brand of clothing. They need to buy better quality items or they will continue to have a lot of returns. I switched back to the Carhartt brand and they sell it there too. I have never had any problems with those items of clothing I buy there. I also love the bins in the front of the store with all the little goodies. I spend about $20 on that junk each time I go in.
