Thread: Meijer Black Friday scam

With Black Friday approaching, I just want to warn people that Meijer does not carry a lot of what is in it's ad or at least not enough of it. Last year I went in about 30 minutes prior to the sale starting and was disappointed to find that they did not have any of the Lite Brite toys they had advertised. After asking I was told they had only stocked 2! 2 are you serious?

Badmamajama, this is not just a Black Friday problem with Meijer. I have been shopping there weekly for years and they are short stocked on a lot of items all the time.

I went in to have a key made and for months I went in every week when I did my grocery shopping and they never had the base key that I needed. They simply told me that it was really popular. Wouldn’t that usually mean that you stock more of it? Kind of crazy if you ask me.

I also have grocery items that I buy regularly and even when they are not on sale, they are hard to find. For example a certain brand of cheese pizza. It is not like I am looking for an organic spinach and feta cheese thing that might be considered specialty, just a Totino’s cheese pizza. They should never run out of things like that and if they do it should only be for a day or 2, not weeks at a time.

The last straw was when I went in to buy an affordable 1 cup coffee maker. I had been looking for one for months but did not want to pay for shipping it from an online store. I absolutely fell in love with one on the Meijer shelf when I saw it. I was not able to locate it on the shelf underneath so I asked a passing stock boy. He could not find it either and decided to call the manager about it.

The manager was pretty rude and said something along the lines of “we must not have any then”. He did not even suggest checking the back or offer to do so himself. I guess I should not have been surprised. It has left a very bad taste in my mouth where Meijer is concerned.
