I booked a flight on Spirit Airlines about 3 months in advance. I had chosen the wrong departure time. When I realized that just under a week later, I called to change it. They told me it would cost me $300 per ticket to change! What a ripoff! They said there was nothing they could do! Outrageous!
Spirit Airlines sucks, plain and simple. I should have known, when the pilots went on strike before our trip, that there would be problems. We arrived at the airport an hour and a half before our flight was to depart, which is usually plenty of time to get checked in, clear security, eat a bite, and embark. If I had to guess, I would suspect that the representatives of Spirit Airlines were annoyed at not getting a raise, and were taking it out on the passengers. There were three agents working and there were about twenty people in line. It took nearly an hour to get through! The agents’ attitudes showed that they really didn’t care and they were in no hurry. When we finally got through the check in line, we only had about 40 minutes to get to the gate.
We cleared security and arrived at the gate with about 10 minutes to spare, but even at that, the gatekeeper said that we were late and he was “about to close the door.” The flight attendants continued the “couldn’t care less” attitude throughout their standard presentations and their service showed they just weren’t interested in doing a good job. Don’t bother with No-Spirit Airlines – they just plain suck.
Spirit Airline does suck. Back in 2008 they made huge cutbacks in their staff. They would not come right out and say who they fired, but there is good reason to believe that they have almost eliminated their customer service department. You would have to go over their head with complaints because they suck and will not help with customer issues.
